The Redskins dropped 1-4 for the year after last nights lost to the Dallas Cowboys. Next week they play the Chicago Bears.
The Redskins stayed in the game until the late stages of the 4th. At one point the Skins gained the momentum with Alfred Morris's TD run to put them in striking distance. The problems that prevented them winning was the same for several weeks. The Redskins special teams let them down again. RG3 throws were inaccurate due to the poor pass protection. Finally the penalties killed them. The Defense failed to tackle as well though overall they turned in a respectable game.
The few positives were the defense had a solid game minus the penalties. The D managed to pick Romo off as well as sacking him once. The stats seem low but the skins were very close to a second pick and Houdini aka Romo worked his magic and avoided 2 sacks. They managed to force Dallas to go 3 and out quickly as well as shut down Dez Bryant. 7 of the 31 points were from special teams and it may as well been 14 due to a poor special teams play which allowed Dwayne Harris to take a punt inside the 5. Overall a solid effort from the defense.
The offence more specifically RG3 and the line looked sub par. Griffin missed several open receivers and threw very risky passes more on this later. The line except Trent Williams were poor. The smaller O line was ran over and failed to generate holes for Morris or Roy Helu . It was nice to see Griffin running out of bounds on several read options but the risk was apparent with Griffin taking several hard hits. The WRs corps failed to step up for Garcon, who was blanketed by David Carr enough to make a difference. The TE situation clearly the strength on the offense. Fred Davis seems to have lost his first team spot to Jordan Reed This will be interesting to see next season with 3 potential 1st string TE on one team.
Overall the special teams were the reason for the lost. Griffin turned it over and it hurt but the Special teams may have a new look next season. Hopefully They will be able to beat Chicago to keep the season alive.
