Robert Griffin III Benched
RG3 was told he would not start Sunday and if not active for Sunday he is out for the season. Shanahan said health concerns were the reason for this decision. The idea of getting Robert into the off season completely healthy is a good decision and honestly a miracle after the number of hits he has taken. With nothing to gain and the idea of Griffin completing his first off season program is ideal. Shanahan who relationship with Snyder could not get much worse has agreed to the idea.
It also gives time to evaluate Kirk Cousins, who has been named starter. If Kirk succeeds as a starter in the last 3 games his trade stock will skyrocket. It poses the question what will it take for the Skins to trade Cousins. With out a first round pick this year it seems like great time to try to get one if Cousins can lead the team. Not to mention Griffin showed he is durable enough not to miss any games. In the next few weeks they may evaluate the back ups. People like Niles Paul, Sky Dawson and Lance Lewis all would benefit from this idea. It would be great if the Redskins enter the off season mostly healthy. The next few weeks will likely determine a few things.
