Redskins Pre game notes

This will evaluate the 5 things to watch results.As well as looking at performances of several player.

1. The QB competition for the third QB

It is rare for a team to go and carry only two QBs. The Skins will likely go into the season with 3 QBs. After the first preseason game it looks like Pat White has the upper hand in the competition going 5/8 with 2 dropped balls and running for a TD as well as converting a 2pt conversion. Rex Grossmen went 10/21 with a TD but overthrew at least 4 balls. He started off just 1-6 but started to heat up once he got comfortable. Pat white whose accuracy was brought up several times in the off season placed the ball in good areas and completed several impressive throws. He also used his athletic gift to scramble for yards. After the game it appears that White will get more playing time in preseason game 2. Rex play was average and it seems the only reason to keep him is to mentor RG3 and Kirk Cousins.

2.Debut for Rookies
4 rookies started on defense and had mix results. David Amerson had 3 tackles and 1 paas break up. He showed his nose for the ball as he always was around the ball when it was up for grabs.He was by far the most impressive rookie Phillip Thomas only played a few snaps before leaving with a injury. Baccari Rambo was a roller coaster ride during the game. He showed a good ability to tackled but threw his body at players instead of wrapping them up. In addition he took a terrible angle at Chris Johnson on a 58 yard TD run. The fourth Rookie Brandon Jenkins Made little impact but did nothing wrong. On offence there were no Offensive rookies to ever enter the game.

3. Orakpo Returned
He showed why what he could do when he is healthy by running around the LT and sacking Jake Locker. Overall a great performance but showed rust when he left a wide open gap that led to Chris Johnson 58 yard TD.

4.   Who will back up Morris? 
Answer simple If he stays healthy with out a doubt Roy Helu who appeared in full health. Rushing for 13 carries and 57 yards.

 5. KIck/ Punt return specialists

..No one stood out with only 1 kick off returned for 24  yards but NIles Paul and  on punting Sky Dawson returned one punt for 27 yards but also lost yards on another one.

Observations from the Game
Chase Minefeild picked up were he left off last year before injury very impressive with coverage and great at breaking on a WR after the catch.,As well as Coming very close to having one of the most impressive interceptions in awhile

Dejon Goms  played well with several good tackles and decent coverage.

Donte Stallworth has put him self in contention for a spot on the roster after his 2 catches for 33 yards

Lenord Hankerson impressed the most out of the WR with  4 catches for 38 yards and a TD.

Aldrick Robinson seemed to have trouble holding on to the ball dropping one and bobbling the other.
